Using Your Newsletter To Get New Residents Back

Spring is the perfect time to start planning for the height of the rental season. Whenever a prospect comes to visit your property, you always want to make the best impression. But no matter what you do, sometimes it can be hard for a prospective resident to remember each property when he or she is visiting several in one day.

The key is to make a lasting impression! There is no better way to keep your property foremost in your visitor’s mind than to give them a copy of your newsletter. This is a tangible reminder of what your community or rental property is all about. They will identify your newsletter with their memory of their visit. It could make all the difference.

Whenever you print up your newsletters for your residents, always be sure to get extras. The cost is minimal compared to the benefits you will obtain from giving away these extra copies. If at the end of the month, you find you still have some on hand, ask around at local establishments if you can leave copies there for people to take. For example, gas stations, convenience stores, laundromats, and coffee shops are great places to leave extra copies of your newsletter. In your newsletter, write up information about upcoming community events or you can have a column for resident feedback so prospective residents can read what current residents have to say about your community.

If you have a leasing office, display your extra copies in a stand in your office for prospective residents to take when they visit your property. Offer your newsletter with other property information you distribute to visitors or mail to inquirers. These prospective residents get a better sense of what it is like to live in your neighborhood. At the same time, they will spend more time considering your property, simply by reading your newsletter.

Make sure your newsletter is well designed, interesting, and full of information. It should reflect your property and your management style. It could turn into the key that gets you the new residents you are looking for.
